A gorgeous and unique two type chain, combining my love of antique sterling silver with a beautiful piece of antique jade chain. (The fob chain is victorian and the jade is an antique piece too. ) I got this piece of jade chain when I was last in South East Asian, visiting family and friends in Singapore and Malaysia. For those who have been here a while, you might remember my visit to Mr Keng, and a long standing dispute between him and my mother (also a lover of antiques, I get it from somewhere). I managed to get my mother to put her feelings aside long enough to come with me and rummage in his space, where I got several gorgeous pieces.
In Chinese culture, jade (yù, 玉) is revered as the 'stone of heaven' that symbolises purity, high moral virtue, protection, and prosperity. For over 5,000 years, the Chinese people have prized jade more than gold - but unlike gold its value is in the eye of the beholder. It is often also considered protective, warding off evil and danger and if a piece of jade breaks while you're wearing it, this means it protected you from hurt or death. People believe jade possesses mystical powers to block negative energy and protect the wearer from harm. Hence why I wear it every day, and is one of my most gifted items.
the jade chain is carved from a solid block - so mega skill is involved! it's a super one off. I know it costs a fair chunk, but I would hope whoever buys this, understands its a mega legacy piece.
