You know those pieces I don't want to put up online, I drag my feet and covet them a little too much?? This is one of 'em - I LOVE grey tourmaline, I have a weird knarly one by my bedside. This one is a rare grey tourmaline capped in sterling silver on a silver rollo chain. 

Grey tourmaline is similar to black in its metaphyical properties, but it is lighter, calmer - for those who find black tourmaline too strong, too grounding, too heavy - this is perfect.  Of you liken black tourmaline to an isolation tank, grey is like having loops in your ears.

This elemental bodyguard, great at cleansing energy, keeping you grounded and shielding you from anxiety (and easing an overthinking brain!), but all without the heavy energetic barrier attributed to black tourmaline. It's also considered a stone of emotional neutrality, clearing mental confusion, calming chaotic emotions, and helping you maintain an objective perspective. Alongside all this, it's said to attract good luck and prosperity. and its so beautiful - like the waves after they've crashed into rocks, a whilewind of grey swirl. 

The word "tourmaline" comes from the Sinhalese tōramalli (or turamali), historically used by Sri Lankan merchants to mean "stone with mixed colours," reflecting how grey, green, and multi-coloured pebbles were found clustered together in gem gravels. When European traders began importing the stones in the 1700s, they noticed the crystals attracted dust and ash when heated, a pyroelectric property that earned it the Dutch nickname Aschentrekker, or "ash puller," before "tourmaline" became its formal name.
