Tethered to Annwn

A very very unique sterling silver strap. One end clips onto your belt or trousers hoop, and the other to wallet or keys or... Traditionally I make these in leather, but I thought I would make a really special one in hefty silver. One chain is an antique and the other is a vintage snake chain from the 1980s, with italian brass fixings on either end. I paired this with an antler amulet - foraged (naturally fallen off) and capped in sterling silver. I cannot descriobe how epic this looks - there is a lot of silver on this!

Arawn ruler of Annwn, the Otherworld that sits alongside the mortal realm in Welsh mythology. He isn’t shown as cruel, but as a steady, fair leader who understands the deep cycles of life and death. In his story with Pwyll, Arawn proves himself honorable and patient, forming a lasting bond of trust. He is linked to the wild hunt and the Cŵn Annwn, guiding spirits through the night. Standing at the boundary between worlds, Arawn represents guidance, transition, and quiet strength.

Though he isn’t an antlered god, Arawn shares themes found in horned or antlered deities - renewal, instinct, and the wild forces of nature. This makes antler symbolism a natural fit for him. Antlers speak to cycles, protection, and the power of the natural world, all of which connect to Arawn’s role. A talisman made from foraged antler reflects respect for nature and the steady, otherworldly balance Arawn represents.

The antlered stag represents wisdom, nobility, and protection, and has long been linked to the yearly cycle of death and rebirth - likely inspired by its natural shedding and regrowth. When you use antlers in a spiritual practice, you join a tradition stretching back at least 10,000 years, honoring the animals and the living world we share with them.
