Qilin

This unique piece features two Sterling silver Victorian chain fobs paired with a beautiful sterling silver rollo chain, finished with a classic Albert clasp. The solid construction highlights the craftsmanship typical of the late 19th century (even on one of the fobs, every chain link is hallmarked!) is paired with a beautiful Lepidolite mica crystal capped in sterling silver - this is a hefty slice of dazzlement. I have heard it refered to as the grandmother stone, so of course my mind immendialty went to my Por-Por and my chinese heritage.

The Qilin is a mythical creature from Chinese and East Asian folklore, one of four divine creatures, often described as a hybrid between a dragon, horse, and deer, with scales covering its body and a flowing mane. Revered as a symbol of prosperity, serenity, and good fortune, the Qilin is said to appear only during times of peace or when a wise ruler is in power (or can we hope, one is coming!!!). Known for its gentle and benevolent nature, it is believed to bring blessings, protect the innocent, and ward off evil, making it a cherished emblem of harmony and positive energy and an excellent talismanic symbol.

The crystal is Lepidolite, a naturally occurring mica mineral known for its soft lilac to rose-violet hues (thanks to the oddles of lithium in it too I think). Depending on the specimen, it may appear translucent or exhibit a gentle pearly sheen, and this one is really shimmery. Often found alongside minerals such as Feldspar, Tourmaline, Spodumene, and Quartz.

Spiritually, Lepidolite is associated with emotional balance, calm, and transitional support, often connected to the crown chakra, which symbolises clarity, insight, and inner wisdom. It is considered a stone of emotional healing and balance, carrying the energy of lithium - a mineral historically used to support mood and nervous system function. Many believe Lepidolite can help dispel negative emotions such as anger, grief, sadness, and disappointment. Known as a stone of transition, Lepidolite is thought to support individuals navigating significant life changes, such as career shifts, relocation, or marriage, helping to stabilise emotions and connect to inner wisdom. Meditating with a Lepidolite is said to promote calm, universal connection, and a sense of wholeness during times of uncertainty. 

For those born just after the winter solstice (December 21–January 19) this stone can be espically benifical.
