Hand carved and cast in bronze, this talisman is a hefty piece that sits nicely on the chest — a weight you can feel — paired with a props lovely antique sterling curb chain. One of the last from a great antique dealer I can no longer afford! The talisman is double-sided: on one face, a slithering snake, and on the other, a sigil — a reminder to guard the last drops of your energy reserve. It is a call to presence. In a world that pulls your attention in every direction, it sets an intention to tend to your own energy, to stay rooted in yourself, so you can meet the world not from depletion, but from a place of strength.
The serpent has long symbolised the creative life force: the ability to move forward with fresh ideas and values, and to navigate challenges with greater ease. On a deeper level, it reflects the search for balance between duality and unity. Just as snakes shed their skin, they embody rebirth, transformation, healing, and the essence of immortality.
The name Ophion comes from Greek mythology, translating directly from the ancient Greek ophis — simply, "serpent." Depicted as a colossal snake coiled around the world itself, he is a figure of primordial chaos, infinity, and the great cycles of the cosmos. One of the oldest serpent myths in the Greek tradition, Ophion speaks to something deeper than symbol: the idea that the snake doesn't just inhabit the earth, but holds it. That stillness and enormity are the same thing.
