This necklace is a one-of-a-kind composition that weaves together personal history, craftsmanship, and ancient symbolism. The foundation is a sterling silver chain, paired with a smaller gold-plated section repurposed from a bracelet inherited from my French mother-in-law. To this, I’ve added a silver antler I carved by hand, a silver-and-gold-plated midnight carabiner etched with stars, a Celtic Bronze Age hoop, and a hand-carved sun-and-triangle pendant.

The Celtic Bronze Age hoop dates back to around 700 BC, and were once used as a form of ancient currency. I’ve loved sourcing them through mudlarkers, collectors, and other guardians of history. This particular bronze ring, from the Celtic Iron Age, was found in the Midlands and comes from a Staffordshire collection, adding both authenticity and depth to the piece.

The antler represents wisdom, nobility, protection and has long been tied to the annual death and resurrection of the sun - probably due to their shedding and regrowth...When you incorporate antlers into your spiritual life, you’re joining a long tradition  (at least 10,000 years) of respect and reverence for the creatures that walk this world with us.

The sun-and-triangle pendant is carved in warm bronze, an alloy long associated with grounding, humility, and a steady, calming strength. Bronze is said to promote stability, security, and resilience - qualities reflected in both its composition and its enduring use across cultures. The Sun symbolizes vitality, courage, and our outward presence in the world, radiating the yang energy of strength and illumination. On the reverse, the upward-pointing triangle represents Fire - the alchemical force of transformation. Each side of the triangle reflects the essential elements needed to sustain a flame: oxygen, fuel, and heat. Fire is alive, dynamic, and ever-changing, reminding us of the balance required to nurture both physical flame and the inner fire that drives us forward.
