This beautiful cut Aquamarine pendant is hung on a sterling silver hollow chocker.
Patterned on one side, and plain on the other, the chocker can be worn on either side. I found it at an antique market and though I wasn't able to unearth it's origins, I have, in typical S&S style, polished and made it my own, in the spirit of repairing and reusing.
Known as a stone of hope, happiness, emotional clarity, and protection, this greenish-blue beryl mineral is part of the hexagonal crystal system. Aquamarine has always fascinated people. Sailors once carried it to protect themselves from drowning. The Greeks believed it brought safe travel across rough seas. The Egyptians loved its blue color and saw it as a symbol of joy. Over time, it’s been seen as many things - an antidote to poison, a mermaid’s charm, a source of wisdom, a talisman, and even an offering to call for rain during droughts.
To cleanse this stone, return it to its natural element - water. That could be from the Chalice Well, the sea, or the rain.
The pendant is a bit less than 4cm.
