When worn as a talisman, ruby’s mystical properties extended to personal protection. People believed wearing the stone on the left (the heart side), would allow the bearers to live peacefully.
Hindus regard the ruby, known as “the King of precious stones,” as more valuable than any other gem. The Mani Mala describes the Kalpa Tree, a symbolic offering to the Hindu gods, as composed entirely of precious stones - This magnificent tree would bear rubies as fruit. Bling - Hindus often leave Rubies as ceremonial offerings at various temples - As folklore states “He who worships Krishna with rubies will be reborn as a powerful emperor. If with a small ruby, he will be born a king.” And this Ruby ring is p r e t t y huge.... just saying. It weighs 20 gms and is UK size L - truly a one off wonder : )
From our AW20 collection: Astral Ancestors
The inspiration for the Astral Ancestors collection is a scent - A fragrance that captures the spirit of an imagined journey - From the Earth's Core to Outer space.
"There was something undefined and complete, existing before Heaven and Earth. How still it was, how formless, standing alone and undergoing no change, reaching everywhere with no danger of being exhausted. It may be regarded as the mother of all things. Truthfully it has no name, but I call it Tao." (Tsu, 1972)
Black pepper and patchouli - The core, snaking up towards the crust and beyond.
Vetiver and frankincense - The earth, caves and fields.
