A stunning black tektite (half polished) set with a Celtic Bronze Age hoop, on a sterling silver chain. I've had this black tektite for seven years, a stone that has sat on my altar all that time, and now it's ready to find its next home.
Tektites have been associated with transformation and change since ancient times. Many cultures saw them as magical stones that could facilitate major life shifts, stimulate growth, and provide access to inner wisdom during periods of upheava - a great talismans for weathering turmoil when everything else felt uncertain.
Tektite is an excellent stone for grounding and protection, helping to shield you from negative energies and keep you centred in challenging situations. It is also a powerful meditation crystal, deepening meditative states and intensifying energy flow during practices like qi gong.
Geologically, tektites are among Earth's most dramatic curiosities - natural glass formed not from volcanoes, but from catastrophic meteorite impacts. When a space rock strikes at tens of kilometres per second, the energy instantly vaporises the surrounding rock, hurling molten material high into the atmosphere. Air resistance sculpts these droplets into spheres, teardrops, and dumbbells as they cool into glass and rain down across vast stretches of land. Found in regions called strewn fields, tektites carry a frozen record of some of the most violent moments in our planet's history.
The Celtic Bronze Age hoop dates to around 800 - 500 BC and was once used as a form of ancient currency. This particular ring was found in the Midlands and comes from a Staffordshire collection.
