Enquire within

I'm quite obsessed with intaglios, spending hours of my time on auction sites and antique markets looking for, bidding on and, most often, losing out on them.

A technique that dates back to antiquity, intaglios are patterns, designs, crests or images carved into a gemstone or glass, to leave an impression when pressed into seal wax (usually as a means to sign off and authenticate correspondence or documents). They have been collected with fascination throughout the ages as objects of desire. I recently found this intaglio cut into glass, with the words "for further particulars enquire within". I feel this works on so many levels: personal, relational, spiritual or magical self.

I initally pressed the intaglio into some green wax I had melted on to a hand carved ring, and then cast the whole thing in bronze (I will eventually set the OG intaglio into a pendent, but for now i can cast a similar ring or talisman in another metal by request).
