A scratched sterling silver cuff, oxidized and sanded. Inspired by my monthly Craniosacral Therapy sessions. Sometimes I feel like i'm flying through outer space, green and mystal. Other times I am floating in water, being gentle pulled by my head along the waves.... but almost always if I look up at the ceiling, I see a million lines dashing across the room - Like paths of energy - my rational side knows it's probably phosphenes in my eyes, but anyway, thought i'd visualise this experience into something solid. And solid it is - It weighs 54 gms and it is made from wonderful recycled sterling silver - Hallmarked and ready to go. Secretly I want to keep this... so don't be surprised if its off line in a few days lol.
Jung believed that, below the surface chaos perceived in everyday life there is a hidden or secret realm of unity (the unus mundus) a realm of “absolute knowledge.” This realm is thought to be common to all cultures and resides in the "collective unconscious.” In moments of crisis the psyche can tap into the collective unconscious, knowledge gathered from ancestral experience - Something that seems to be happening to many people at this point in time, unsurprisingly!
This Sterling silver cuff is 6cm in diameter The silver is somewhat flexible and so can accommodate small differentiation in wrist sizes.
From our AW20 collection: Astral Ancestors
The inspiration for the Astral Ancestors collection is a scent - A fragrance that captures the spirit of an imagined journey - From the Earth's Core to Outer space.
"There was something undefined and complete, existing before Heaven and Earth. How still it was, how formless, standing alone and undergoing no change, reaching everywhere with no danger of being exhausted. It may be regarded as the mother of all things. Truthfully it has no name, but I call it Tao." (Tsu, 1972)
Black pepper and patchouli - The core, snaking up towards the crust and beyond.
Vetiver and frankincense - The earth, caves and fields.
Lavender and neroli - Flora and fauna.
Cedarwood, sandalwood and fir - The trees reaching up.
Geranium - Stratosphere
Birch tar - Moon
Almond - Saturn's moon
Raspberry - Outer space.
