A bronze hand carved sun with a drop of gold perched on its head like a little top bun (inspired by my wife's top bun) soldered on to a textured sterling silver cuff.

Conceived through a journey of initial scepticism to genuine appreciation for coordinated jewellery, this bracelet embodies the philosophy that the most meaningful designs often emerge from personal connections and shared aesthetic vision. Basically... the inspiration came from my mother-in-law who has a sun pendant, she was talking about matching pieces and how much she loved them, I was sceptic at the idea, but then Christmas came round and I found myself making a sun ring for her, it actually turned out really nicely ... so I gulped back my words and thought i'd give this matching idea a try, and voila. The Deosil/Tuathal cuff.

This hand carved little Sun's cast in bronze - a beautiful warm alloy. An earth element, it is associated with humility and being grounded, as well as having calming strength about it, promoting stability, security and sturdiness. Warm like gold, but steady as a rock.  The Sun symbolizes our outer world - our ego, our presence in the here and now, and our yang energy. It is a source of strength, courage, and insight, radiating vitality into our lives.

I've stamped two words on the inside of the cuff: Deosil & Tuathal. Deosil and Tuathal reflect an ancient Celtic understanding of movement and meaning. Deosil, the sunwise, clockwise path, follows the journey of the sun across the sky and symbolizes harmony, blessing, and protection. Tuathal, its counterclockwise counterpart, moves against the sun and represents disruption, transformation, and the power to undo or release what no longer serves. Together, they embody balance - creation and unmaking, order and change - capturing the quiet power of intention and direction. This piece honors those old ways, reminding the wearer that even the smallest turn can carry deep significance.

Silver has long been valued for its beauty and its protective qualities. Traditionally associated with the moon, it is believed to enhance intuition, clarity, and emotional balance, (which is why i thought it balanced so well with this bronze and gold sun!) Silver is also known for its natural antimicrobial properties and its ability to reflect light, symbolizing purity and truth. In jewelry, it is cherished not only for its luminous shine and durability, but for its timeless connection to healing, protection, and quiet strength.
