It is something I carved and was rather pleased so I made a silicon mould and I am now able to make a few duplicates, reducing the cost for both you and me : ) the hand has many many meanings - but for me, ive always resonated witht he idea that the fingers represent the five elements within us: the thumb represents the fire, as well as universal consciousness; the index finger represents air and individual consciousness; the middle finger represents akasha, or connection; the ring finger represents earth, and the little finger the element of water.

And then there is the wee Amethyst - a crystal that works across the emotional, spiritual, and physical body to promote balance, peace, and patience. It can be helpful in relieving anxiety, and is a wonderful crystal if you want to delve deeper during meditation — roaming more levels of consciousness. A great stone for the times. Some might call it a natural tranquiliser, but I prefer to see it as a mind protector: a point of pivot from repetitive thoughts, calming the brain and spirit to clear the path. This particular piece is tumbled, and though that doesn't change its properties as such, I find tumbled stones always carry a softer, more gentle offering.

The name amethyst comes from the Greek amethustos, meaning "non-drunk." In ancient Greece, cups were carved from the purple stone in the belief that drinking from them could prevent intoxication — we can certainly test that theory, though not with this piece.

The origin of the stone itself is told in myth: Artemis transformed a mortal maiden named Amethystos into white quartz to protect her from the drunken rage of Dionysus. Remorseful, he poured wine over the statue, staining it purple — and so the amethyst was born, a symbol of purity and sobriety ever since.

Weight: 16.8 g

Chain length: 23 cm

Full length: 29 cm
